Sticky Fingers

"Sticky Fingers" is the ninth studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released on 23 April 1971 on their newly formed label, Rolling Stones Records. It was the first studio album released after the death of Brian Jones and features Mick Taylor in his second full-length appearance with the band, following the live album "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!". The album's original cover, conceived and photographed by Andy Warhol, featured a close-up of a man in tight jeans with a working zip that revealed underwear fabric. The elaborate design proved costly and caused issues with vinyl production, leading to adjustments made by John Kosh at ABKCO Records. Later reissues retained only the outer photograph. Musically, "Sticky Fingers" marked a return to a more straightforward rock sound, with most tracks built around the core instrumentation of Mick Jagger (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, percussion), Keith Richards (guitar, backing vocals), Mick Taylor (guitar), Bill Wyman (bass), and Charlie Watts (drums). Additional contributions came from long-time collaborators, including saxophonist Bobby Keys and keyboardists Billy Preston, Jack Nitzsche, Ian Stewart, and Nicky Hopkins. The album was produced by Jimmy Miller. "Sticky Fingers" is widely regarded as one of the Rolling Stones' strongest albums. It was the first of their records to reach number one on both the UK and US albums charts and has since achieved triple platinum certification in the United States. The single "Brown Sugar" topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1971. The album was voted the second best of the year in The Village Voice's Pazz & Jop critics poll and has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
